a. Perú

Wonky walking,
the trip from the U.S. to Peru.

Went through plain, rainforest and plateau..

When my eyes encountered the natural texture,
I captured the color and turned it into
my low-saturated spectrum.

b. Ego Blast

My room, my container

My years, my days

Squeezed herself in this 40srf room,
talked to the wall endlessly,
slept with her bitterness.

When she was dying, she is alive.
Cut her hair, and cut every inch of her past.
The green tip kissed her lake,

her world is shaping.

c. Tombs of the Qing Dynasty

Tombs of the Qing Dynasty,
located in the suburb of Tangshan,
is famous for its' disastrous earthquake in 1976
as well as its' heavy-industrial-polluted air.
Unaccountable people turned into dust
and buried under the loess.
The past had pasted,
but the old, solemn aura still waves in the air.
The flucturating, mistlike, grainy air
keeps telling its’ story in the wind.

How are you, the flesh?
How old are you, the soul?

d. The Paralleled Quarantine

She has the right to shut down
the shutters in her room,
which is the only right she holds for escaping,
escaping from reality.
Meanwhile,
she banned down due to the quarantine,
which made her travel along with three cities.

She lives in a parallel world;
One line is in Chicago,
in frozen 40 degrees below.
3/4 seasons here is deadly ice-cold,
people used to wear a pair of gloves,
an approach to protect themselves;
her way is to shut the shutters in her room,
trying to avoid the deafening wind-blowing,
the snowing, and the screaming of the long winter.

Suddenly,
her night comes.

[ Those photos were taken during my quarantine from the U.S. to China in March and April. I was locked down in my room in Chicago for one month. Due to the breakdown of covid-19, I came back to China and locked down in the hotel for half a month; then, I finally came back home;
my community banned me at home for one week.

Be in the quarantine along with three different cities; my body went through chaos, which still did not move an inch of its' emptiness that haunted my heart. Every day during the official quarantine in the hotel, food combos will be sent to our stools outside of every individual's room.

That's not just a physical quarantine, but also a meditative space for unloading my pain. The Paralleled Quarantine is a romantic title for the dual melancholia. ]

e. Synecdoche, New York ( on progressing)

New York Times listed
tons of names on their front page,

who died from COVID-19.
To appeal, ask, announce, and emphasize,
the blatant killing applied by the white house.
I overlayed my shots for the first encounter with NYC,
with the front pages of the New York Times,
trying to do a narrative collage of sweet personal memories and the officially political announcements.
After the gesture of overlapping a layer of politics
with the original core value of the shots series, capitalism;
finally, the blood is spilling out.

f.  Chinese Black

In China,
we have chinese red and chinese yellow.
If you ever heard of chinese black,
it can only be defined in the folk.
The hyperfast development goes beyond civil’s imagination,
which also overwhelms our flesh,
detachs our minds to spirts.
This special type of gray melecolio
finds the chinese modernism in every corner.

g. Old House and Nanny

This house raised my mother,
where she received her first
love letter and got intercepted by my grandmother—
this place, which also held my grandpa’s mourning.

A house was full of memories but still could not able to deny the modernization and urbanization. My families all moved out with the time-passing, and we came back when the town’s government forced us, local residents, to carry out instead of the commercial use with a meager price. Several neighbors united to stay and against the town’s government.

Temperatures go high in the hot summer, making this throng of houses look peaceful and enrapt in the whole scene within lush greens. The inside also stays still in a peacefully decaying mind as the people who lived in before.
